Joe Taylor has been a trusted name in the building industry since starting business in the mid-1980s.
Joe left college to build a geodesic dome house in New Mexico in 1976 and has worked in the building and roofing industry since then. Beginning as a carpenter when the crew did all phases of construction, he has a wide variety of experiences in both residential and commercial construction, including time with two roofing contractors, new home builders as an employee and subcontractor, a high-end design and remodeling company, a commercial contractor building new office, manufacturing, explosives manufacturing & storage, and an environmental test building where they shook wireline trucks to simulate road conditions. He worked for a year in the late 70s for a construction materials supply company helping customers with materials. He was a trim and finish carpentry contractor for homebuilders in the early 80s before working as a warranty service technician for a new home builder where every problem with hundreds of new homes was his to solve. He also did the finishing details and punch-out work on new homes for that custom home builder.
Joe has always been a student of best practices and materials and his wide array of experiences gives him great insight into best practices and smart materials applications, and his creativity and design experience helps develop some beautiful projects.
Joe is involved in serving his community in many ways. He served as a Trustee for the school district for 18 years, and as the leader of the District Planning Committee when they did building improvements on all campuses, including the construction of the KISD Performing Arts Center. He is a founding member of the Kennedale Rotary Club and currently serves as a director for the area Chamber of Commerce. He served for years as a leader with the local scout troop and as a director for the KISD Education Foundation. Joe currently serves on the board for The Village at Pleasant Ridge, a senior housing complex he has been involved in building at his church. Joe supports the arts, career and tech education, outdoor education, band, and athletics in the schools and community. Taylor Contracting regularly contributes to community and international service.
Joe believes in treating customers as brothers and sisters and developing life-long relationships as he helps people care for their property. He has built Taylor Contracting through word-of-mouth referrals by taking care of people and helping them plan improvements and solve problems with their homes and buildings.
